Wow – long time no writing – which has been terrible! I never realized just how much of an impact this site has on my life. Never stop doing something that is beneficial. So, here’s to Buster and his wonderful site!

I am very new to this site, but I am already in love with it. Having tried to write morning pages with the old fashioned pen and paper on and off for the last year, I find this site so much more motivational. I love getting the badges, and I also find, that writing like this helps me get into a flow in a way that I hadn’t experienced before. So please, please, keep this site up and running for a long time to come!

I find that the “streak effect” is one of the only motivational systems that works for me. Because of this, 750 words has been perfect. I am not a writer, I would like to eventually write a book, but other than that I have no need to write durring the day. Never the less, I find that using this site as a daily journal for my life and my feelings and thoughts is beneficial. When I read back to posts from last week, last month, last year, I see things in myself that I had forgotten about; things that have changed in me emotionally, or changed in my circumstances. I am able to notice the changes that happen so subtly I don’t see them in day to day life. I find that this is a very centering exercise. Thank you 750 words, I would not have a problem paying monthly for the site, and I think if a dollar or two a month was made the standard, most people would have no issue paying that to keep the site and their streaks running.

This site has encouraged me to become a dedicated writer who is progressing on two manuscripts with focus and a sense of purpose. Without using 750words it would have taken me much longer to achieve my word count. Please find a way keep this charming, encouraging and energizing site. Please.

Over the years, I’ve drifted in and out of daily writing. I’ve tried journals, web sites, Word, dedicated writing applications. Not one has motivated me like this site! The badges, the textual analysis, the promptings – all of it make a wonderful site for daily, morning pages.

You KNOW you are hooked on words when you miss your daily dump and spend the next few hours grumbling loudly where people can hear and comment – BUT, unlike tobacco and overspending, this addiction is actually GOOD for the soul,, and a necessary redirect… will I “sin” again? Probably, especially if I forget to schedule “off time”. Love that feature… now I just gotta remember to USE IT!

Since maintaining a daily writing schedule since August (with the exception of Christmas — I was more excited than my children and forgot to schedule the day off!), I have begun again to think of myself as a writer, not just a person with a writing degree. I’m grateful for this site and the silly little incentives to keep going (I love the badges!). Silly as they are, they’ve motivated me to keep going, and as a result, I have a writing life again. Thank you!

I’m new to the site and I’m not the most avid writer, but even so, news of its impending demise distresses me. If it’s down to the cost of a coffee per month, I’ll sign myself up, and judging by the testimonials here, I guess I’m not alone. But if it’s a question of increasing membership, then I have a modest proposal: reach out to the socially-networked demographic by giving the members of 750words who choose to publish their writing a simple option to publish to their Facebook account. The Facebook post might read “I’ve just written X words at 750words.com.” with a link to the user’s stats for the day. It’s certainly less stupid than most posts I see on my Facebook page on a given day. I think the challenge for this site is not to appeal to a larger demographic, but to take full advantage of the demographic that would support the site if only they knew of its existence.

Like so many others, the mere existene of a site which lets me write and it’s always in the same place (just where I left it) and it always give me enough information to be encouraging—is wonderful It has inspried me to write on a regular basis an dI write for pleasure, and I write for my life. Thank you. I became a patron to be able to say, whatever you, keep it going, and I hope all those whispers of 75- going away are just silly speculation and you will keep on.

750 words helps me flesh out ideas, and i can generally find those ideas that are hidden up the back of my mind that would not have been found without writing this many words in one sitting.
please keep this up. its an invaluable tool to aspiring writers wanting to perfect styles or try new ones without prying eyes.

Helping me get back into a semiregular writing practice… Really helpful. When I don’t do it, I know that I’m not doing it, and the recordkeeping of the days that I miss is really motivating. Also the word count is really helpful, because when I’m “on my own” I would probably stop well before the 750 mark, and that target keeps me going.
I only accidentally found out that the site might have to close; I really suggest that Buster makes this more generally known. Of course, perhaps this is what you’re planning to do in February once you have a bit more “beta” input from the smaller group. I’d pay something.

For close to 20 years, I’ve been trying to develop a daily writing habit. I have literally dozens of notebooks filled with clippings, scraps of paper with ideas, photos, etc. but I never could just get started writing. The frustration at having all these stories inside me but not being able to get them out sank me into a deep depression. Then I found this site. No, really. I know it sounds all fake-y and miraculous, but it was. I managed to get through 70 days my first try, and now I’m past the 100 days mark. I’m close to finally finishing my first novel and I’ve learned how to make time in my life for writing. This site has truly been a life-changer for me. Thank you so much.

After years of not writing—the first significant amount of time I’ve spent not writing since I first picked up a pencil at six years old—returning to this site helped me start picking up the pieces of my soul. It’s private; it allows me to get my thoughts out, unfiltered, so I can start (or finish) the day with a clearer head; and there’s no judgment. (It’s also minimally formatted so I can do it at work and not feel too paranoid about someone catching sight of my monitor!) I think it’s incredibly noble of Buster to want to keep the site free, but the sad fact is that not everything can be free because of the society we live in right now, and the other fact is that he and Mario deserve compensation for the good work they’ve done. Though I’ve been using 750w for well over a year now, I’ve only just now subscribed as a monthly patron, b/c it freaked me out to hear that this site’s continued existence is in question. [is this true, by the way? I only “know” it via other notes…] This site provides WAY more than $4 value to me each month.

Today was not an especially good day for me. If I hadn’t signed up for the Jan. challenge, I could have easily given myself an ok not to write today. But I’m determined to write every day this month, and so I sat down, after dinner, and wrote 1100 words. I’m almost finished with the first draft of my novel. After NaNoWriMo I needed a challenge to continue writing every day, and 750 words does it for me. I never imagined I could write 112,000 word in 3 months, but I have. Thanks.

This site is important to me. I usually write 6 of the 7 days in a week. I would be sad to see it go away as it clearly helps a lot of people, including myself. There are a myriad of ways to help keep this site going (reading through all the comments) and I hope it remains a viable option for everyone – regardless of income. I’ve been writing morning pages on and off for the best part of five years since following The Artist’s Way. While I was a bit adverse to giving them a go in digital form, I must confess I now love the 750words site. I love the fact it gives me insights and analysis each day, and particularly like the motivational features that encourage me to come back each day.

A friend on Tumblr recommended 750words.com to me after I had posted a frustrated note about how undisciplined I was in my writing. She said that this site and it’s monthly challenge really helped her and she thought it would help me too. Dear heavens, she was so right! I joined at the end of December, signed up for the January challenge, and have written every single day since. Everything about this site helps me keep on track, from earning badges to reading the analysis of my writing once I’ve finished each day to keeping track of my own metadata (goals, energy, writing, mood, and pain levels). For the first time in years, I’m consistently writing each and every day and it’s not a chore. I’ve even set the bar much higher for myself and am writing around 1700 words a day as a personal challenge and to begin to prepare myself for NaNoWriMo in November. Most of my writing is currently focused on life analysis and goal setting, but I’m also planning out the novel I hope to write in upcoming months. I’ve already signed up for the February challenge and I look forward to each day’s writing now. Thank you so much for creating this wonderful site!
