Writing stories is completely new to me and I needed something to keep me going. 750 words did that, I had a reason to write more everyday regardless of whether it was any good or not. Out of all those words written everyday for the last month, I now have an ongoing story that many people have commented on, sent their appreciation and encouraged me to keep it going. They want to know what happens next and so do I. Thank you for this, it has helped me more than you will ever know.

I discovered the site 2 weeks ago, and was initially fearful over the commitment, but liked the idea of the discipline.
I’ve got loads of stuff I want to (and need to) write, but somehow it always get pushed to the backburner while I’m dealing with other people’s priorities. I figured that it’s rather like the fact I actually exercise more if I arrange a game or a run with someone, whereas if it’s “just me” it invariably gets cancelled.

After my first 10-day streak I realise how liberating this whole thing is. I’ve written material which I’ve needed to get down for ages.

Now it’s there.

But I’ve also discovered 3 cool unexpected benefits:

1) One particular morning when I needed to write something for work, I used my 750-word time to get it done in record time. Just got the text down, then edited and formatted it later.
2) It’s really helping my longer-term planning by writing down my thought conversations about the things I want to write.
3) I’ve started to use part of each day’s writing to just “ramble on” about whatever’s on my mind. As a technical writer, this is usually frowned upon, but I have found it a great thing to do AND some interesting material occasionally emerges.

So – thank you Buster & co – this is a new and regular part of my day that I am grateful for.

I love 750 words. I have been on this site for the last two years and would just love to go on. I do not want to use Paypal. Kelliane told me I could just use it once and discard it, but it doesn’t look that way. I just tried to buy 5 cups of patronage and the minute I write my visa card number, the site says: create a paypal account. How sad that I will have to give up just because of this payment business.
I guess this will mean goodbye as of May 1st, unless I can find another way of paying…

This site has given me focus, clarity and a real reason to fire up my PC first thing every morning.
I have amazed b myself at what I have written. That stuff is much better out of my thoughts and my mind so as not to turn into actions or and angst.
Previously, I wrote long hand most days but never seemed to make 750 words…going the extra mile sure help reveal the juicy stuff!

Ironically, it’s “hard to put into words” how great this simple interface has been for me…so this is the first note I’ve ever felt compelled to write:

I bit the bullet and donated a couple weeks ago, buying myself at least two years, I think, under what would have become the system. Because of the comparative discount, and because I decided, okay, you know what? While this IS something I could do myself (thanks to this site), I’m okay with paying a little to keep doing it here, for a while longer at least.

Seeing this generous and judicious choice you’ve made – more than ever I don’t regret it at all.

I am blown away by the generosity of this site’s founders/operators Buster and Kellianne. That they are giving free lifetime memberships to existing members is just awesome, and rest assured, I will be donating again in the future. I never want this site to go away. I just recently realized I’d written more than 100,000 words—an average of about 105 pages a month. I had no idea I had that in me. Perhaps more importantly (and certainly more therapeutically), it’s helped me get a lot of what I did have in me, out. Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you Buster & Kellianne. I am a graduate student and as such have to do an awful lot of writing on a regular basis. My biggest struggle with this has been editing constantly as I try to write. 750words.com has given me a place to really let my ideas flow without worry about what they look like, how they sound, and whether they actually mean anything. I frequently use the site to springboard projects; I dump ideas here without censoring myself, and as a result I write more productively when I transition into the Word document. I tell everyone in school about this website!

Yesterday I was feeling discouraged to hear this site was becoming pay-only (as a graduate student it is very difficult to come up consistently with $5 per month even for something as valuable as this) – so the news today that I will get to keep my account for free is thrilling. I thank you for this, and I do plan on contributing when I can, in gratitude. I have grown so much in my creativity as a result of this website, and I want others to be able to experience the same joys and freedom I have found.

This newest announcement about lifetime accounts has me so pleased that I’ve bought a cup of patronage to celebrate. I’ll still continue to donate to 750 Words, but it’s great to know that if my budget is tight now and again I won’t lose access to this wonderful site.

Thanks for this very clear note confirming the forthcoming changes to the site. I have already stated my intentions to become a member and to continue writing here. I have been using this site for about eighteen months and would not know what to do without it. I completely understand why this has to become a pay-for-use site and am amazed at the way you have been able to run it on virtually good will alone, for as long as you have. Over the past seven months I have developed a habit of regular morning pages by typing here as soon as I get up. The cleverly placed badges have undoubtedly acted as motivators. When I finally publish my first novel I shall dedicate it to you both. Be assured of my best wishes in your changed circumstances.

I had been sitting on several book ideas for years before I found 750Words, completely on accident (I was searching for assistance on an etymology essay and found the site). Since then, I have made significant progress on the book. Even when most of my words for the day aren’t for the book, the daily writing clears my head significantly. I can’t imagine where I’d be without it!

I’ve always read that if you want to be a writer to write every day. It sounds easy, but it’s not. Real life always gets busy and the next thing you know you haven’t written in awhile. 750 Words has given me a reason to keep writing every day. I love that I can write before I go to school early in the morning or right before bed when I need to empty my head or in the middle of the afternoon. Thank you so much.

I like being able to scroll back and compare days in order, or scroll forwards sometimes, and that feature is a bit difficult with the existing arrangement – hovering the mouse over a green X to see what date it is and then clicking. A back/next set of buttons would be awesome. Thanks as always for your amazing site! I rely on it like no other.

Honest to goodness, without having this site as my place to sound off and scream into the ether or as my place to throw ideas against the wall (some that stick, some that don’t) or as my place to tell secrets and desperate confessions to no one or just… as my place? I just read the newest update and was pleased to see that existing members, before May 1st, will be given free lifetime accounts. I didn’t want to lose access to writing every day on here, but currently don’t have an income in order to pay $5/month. But I definitely will donate as much as possible (especially since I tend to get those gift cards, that you can use anywhere, for birthdays, Christmas, etc.). -Keep Calm & Write. (:

Huzzah! I am pleased that current members get lifetime free accounts! I want to donate, but I must first see how much taxes will set us back this year. Seriously, budgeting is that tight. I was worried, then, about whether I’d have the 5 bucks on April 1 to keep going. But once the IRS has theirs, I’ll definitely see what’s left to donate when I can.

I like the new plan with free lifetime memberships for existing members. So I donated the amount I would have paid for April. I have written every day for 550+ days and it has helped to show me how doing one small thing every day can add up.

I absolutely love 750 words. I use it mainly for plotting out my novels and it really helps. So far I have a streak of 662 days and it would just feel wrong to stop.
