The Friends & Members of 750 Words

750 Words exists because of mutual good will between the people that run this site (Buster & Kellianne) and the people who use it (you). The site wouldn't exist without the generosity, patience, and humor of everyone involved. For the first 3+ years that the site was running (Dec 2009 to May 2013), the site was free to use but with some encouragement to donate. That served us well (and most importantly, generated enough income to keep the site up), but as the site grew the need for support also grew.

On June 12th 2013, all existing users of the site were given lifetime free accounts (we hope you'll continue to donate when you can). New accounts created after June 12th, 2013 are now required to become members within 30 days after signing up in order to keep writing. Everyone will always have access to previous writings, stats, etc, even if they choose not to become members.

We're listening to your feedback and want to make sure that first and foremost, we offer a friendly and safe place for people to dump their private thoughts. I expect that we'll continue to adjust the way this all works for the near term. Thanks for being an awesome community!

Who runs this site?

Our names are Buster and Kellianne, we live in Berkeley, California with our two sons (Niko and Louie) and this is something we've built and run in our spare time.

This site has been unbelievable. It has been more than 7 months on it, and it is one of the things I most look forward to when I wake up in the morning. It feels so good to get my thoughts out before getting started on my day. And the freedom to just write, without worrying about content, grammar, or spelling, helps me to focus on just the thoughts running through my head. Once I complete my writing I feel ready to tackle my day.

Stats upgrade to weekly, monthly and yearly!

It would be awesome to be able to see STATS not just for the day, but weekly, monthly and yearly so that I can see trends. For example, perhaps as I get older, my concern of “Death” appears more and more often, so on and so forth.

I’ve been so grateful for 750 words! After a massive anxiety spiral earlier this year, having space to come to dump all my thoughts and clear my head has been invaluable! Love this website – it’s so helpful and awesome!

I managed to do 3 months of 750words.com a few years back. I have ADHD and wow does this site help me focus on things that are important. I want to be able to find balance this year and hopefully coming back to this will help me do so. I’m going to try to beat my 3 month record this time. Might miss a few days but going to try to make a long streak happen.

After 2018 (a bad year) and 2019 (a worse year — I didn’t even finish NaNo!), I knew that I needed to get serious about writing every day again. It would make me feel better — more in control, more productive. I was ready and raring to go on January 1, 2020.

Except, I got distracted by catching up on chores on my day off, and forgot to write. Now I’m struggling with feeling that starting on January 2nd doesn’t have the same impact as if starting on the first day of the Gregorian calendar year; I am already second-guessing myself on my other writing challenges, because I’m already behind. I feel my old projects are just going to languish. I’ve already failed.

Then I remembered: I didn’t have this habit when I started 750 Words in March 2015. I didn’t start on a tidy day like the 1st or the 15th. I was at square one, like I am now, save that I have proof I’ve succeded before, and I can do it again.

Today is the first day towards restoring a habit that brought me great pride, a feeling of accomplishment on even my darker days. I hope that if you’re struggling, this helps you, too. I hope you all have a Happy New Year, and now if you’ll excuse me… I have some words to do!

I would love an iPad app that would allow me to write when off-line, for those times (like flying) when I don’t have internet. I am thrilled to have completed the 30 day challenge this December, and I am looking forward to more daily writing in 2020. I find it clears my mind and helps me so much throughout the day. (PS. More badges would be nice too!)

I agree—anything that would help me write things down on the go would be really welcome. A mobile site is one thing, but apps tend to be better designed for a purpose, and my experience with text input on mobile sites is iffy at best.

As an actor, I get to write as my character would. I get to flesh them out in here, to actualize who they might be, based on the script. They become more three dimensional for me. I have a whole month for this too.

I discovered 750 words in November and just completed my first monthly challenge—December. I’m signed up for January and looking forward to another month of writing my words every day. What a fantastic way to clear my mind every morning! I love starting every day with this accomplishment.

Been a member here for almost 4 years and have yet to write a straight 30 days! For someone who feels writing is one of her main callings, this mystifies me, yet being able to track my habits all this time has great value and spurs me on to try again. So tomorrow January 1st, I will begin a new month of attempting 30 days in a row and we’ll see if I can be consistent and make it happen. I really appreciate, by the way, being able to categorize my writing with the metadata, it’s so great to be able to go back and pull up all the entries related to a particular term.

This site is amazing. I have just completed my first full month in a few months, and it has felt so good. I am already signed up to the January challenge, and am going to ACE that one as well.

750words has been my therapist this year. In the thousands of words I have written here I have healed some deep, old wounds (I am glad I can know that no one apart from me ever reads them!). Sometimes I write nonsense jsut to fill the space. Sometimes I allow my ADHD Brain to come up with all the ideas it wants to, knowing full well I am never going to act on them. Sometimes I pour my heart out, and process pain and trauma. Sometimes I wrote blog posts and job applcations. Whatever I need, 750words gives me the space to do it, and the motivation to remember that I need to do it.

I am so grateful for this site. EVery month when my payment goes out, I am glad to be paying for this. I know I wouldn’t have done half the writing and healing I have done in a word document. There is something safe and encouraging about logging into my account here. Thank you!

My mind was feeling free and i was acting most natural, i was fully presnt and i was feeling heard and spoken. This was my first experience. of writing 750 words. One day i wrote about some very sensitive childhood incidents, another day I wrote about some creative and productive additions in my daily schedule. i wrote being most honest to myself, Knowing that it is something which completely confidential i completely opened up. By now having written for more than 100 days and some 125 K words, i feel a lot known to myself, a lot aware about my actions, a lot informed about what i inside me, a lot supported. I call this 20-30 mins a holy time where i connect to some great power and i get all the solution which i look for. i really appreciate the motivational rewards which this plateform uses. this is something which has forced me to stick to this website. Great work guys. keep it up.

Beyond the NaNoWriMo: a badge for every month you write 50,000 words — not just during the month of November. Would also like to see badges for meeting the monthly challenge. Not just one time, but every time. Better representation for those who do other than the Wall of Fame (I can never find my name there). Thanks so much!

I just signed up with a monthly subscription and noted two Note responses where subscribers were unable to enter their morning pages and were very upset. I wonder if we subscribers could be informed ahead of time when the system will be down. Or was it due to a clerical Paypal or Credit Card cancellation error? How is this being addressed?

So bummed – I broke my streak yesterday – I’d blame it on the holidays but I had time during the day and simply forgot. I generally write first thing so I didn’t think about it during the day – went to a family holiday party, came home around 1 am and then remembered – only 1 chance to never miss and I blew it. Oh well, what can I do. I love this site, but as simple as it is there are few things I just don’t get – like the cups – and the following – why follow someone? in any case, love the points, the badges the safe space to write, I love counting the words and the attempt to interpret mood, etc. All great stuff. Thanks

I’m back after a few years away from 750 words. It’d be nice to see my past badges back and also accumulate new ones as I begging using 750 words again. I was a former member for over two years and loved getting badges. Please give returning members incentive for badges again as they write on 750 words.
