The Good Patrons of 750 Words

A Note of Inspiration from Member Lina Boatman

When I started writing again — three years ago now! — 750 Words was invaluable to me. I began a streak that lasted almost a year (Life Happens, as we all know), and since then there have been months where there are more blank days than days with writing. If I get discouraged, or feel that the block might be Forever, I only needed to look into my archives to know that I can break free of it.

The point of 750Words is to build a rhythm, a habit — when life happens, though, that habit sometimes needs to take second place. I encourage everyone who has broken a streak to not give up! There’s a freeing feeling of seeing those blank little rectangles turn from slashes into X’s again, just like the first time. And if it happens again (and it might!) — you can do it. Just take a look at how many days you’ve written, your longest streak, your averages… you can do amazing things.

Use this awesome site to build your habit — but be kind to yourself, too. If you miss a day and break your streak, don’t despair. You’ve done this before — you can do it again. xoxo
