The Good Patrons of 750 Words
A Note of Inspiration from Member Ren Bacquie
I just hit the 200-day streak and got my new badge. A week earlier, I wrote my 250,000th word so I counted ahead to see when I’d hit the 200-day streak on the calendar. Today is the day!
A quarter of a million words includes two stages plays (one that have already been produced), a one woman show (which has already been produced), a 70,000 word memoir, half of a historical fiction that’s been in my head for the past 7 years, countless personal essays, and various epistles that randomly leave the confines of my brain and make it into 750words.
I’m not a pen and paper type of person. Pen and paper reminds me of work because I always take a notepad to meetings and scribble things down. 750words has helped me write up my thoughts quickly in a fun and non-distracting way. There are other online writing tools out there, but I stick with 750words due to the badges. They feed my competitive side!
Writing a quarter of a million words has taught me that my best writing time is at 4:30am. That waking early is my drug. I’ve also learned that yes, I AM a writer. My writings have become better as a result of writing daily.
My next goal is to hit half a million words when I get my next badge, the one that celebrates 365-days of consecutive writing. Where my writings take me, I don’t know. What matters is I have an inventory of writings to choose from. What a journey!
