The Good Patrons of 750 Words

A Note of Inspiration from Douglas Moe

A little bit ago, I earned my 1 Million Words badge. Wow. That is a lot of complaining, shopping lists, clearing my brain, blog posts, gearing up, assessing problems, sorting things out and dragging my way through getting started.

The fruits of doing the clickety-clack on the keyboard: my book comes out today! It’s a humor book for dads called Man Vs. Child: One Dad’s Guide to the Weirdness of Parenting published by Abrams. I hope some of you will check it out.

I started using the site years ago, in a stop and start manner. But at some point it has become a ritual and a habit and I noticed that when I used the site, I tended to write. When I didn’t use it, I didn’t write. Like, really write. So whether that’s causation or correlation, it always feels worth it to keep the streak up. Simple enough, but if I concentrate on just “getting started,” and clear my brain here, I can keep writing. Thanks Buster and Kelly!
