Hey! So today marks my 365th day of writing! It’s so strange to realize that the most consistent thing I’ve done all year is write three pages every day. Some days I didn’t eat, some days I didn’t sleep, but every day I wrote 750 words. I feel like I know myself better now than I ever have before — both the good and the bad — and I’m extremely grateful to have had this space to work it all out in.

The single-minded dedication to writing every day also gave me some good stories to tell. My family went on vacation to a small coastal town over the summer, and at one point we had a 36-hour power outage. No electricity for my laptop, and no wifi to send in my words! I ended up convincing my uncle to drive me to the nearest town with power, and I begged the use of a computer off an irritable hotel night clerk. It occurred to me later that I probably could’ve asked Buster for an Act of God streak-repair dispensation, but oh well! If anything, it convinced my family to take my love of writing a little more seriously.

After 349 days of consistent, daily writing, I stumbled and forgot to write! Now as an “egg” again, I look forward to what will be born in my daily pages. Thanks for the site, Buster!

I thought I would get bored with this fairly quickly but much to my delight and pleasure I haven’t. I have to go away for a week this month so won’t be able to keep up my streak so I’ve signed up for the April challenge to ensure I do after I get back. I’ve even started on a plot for a book which I never thought I would do. This is a great site

I’ve got my Phoenix-badge at last and I just couldn’t imagine it will mean so much for me. Well, it’s just a badge – and it’s not just a badge. It’s the sign or maybe symbol of my everyday intention keep doing that I desided to do. Despite of my bad mood or lazy days or busy days or anything else. Just keep writing – when you have no free time or have nothing to write about.

Writing 750 words each morning has made me value myself more. It is the one, purely selfish thing I give myself each day, and it makes me feel wonderful! No matter what else happens during the day, I have gifted myself with this indulgence, and the structure of the site (with all the rewards) has made this easy to do. So thank you for helping me love myself, makes it so much easier to spread the love if I start here everyday.

I finished the February challenge successfully, and although I forgot to sign up for the March challenge, I haven’t broken my streak. 750words has helped me, simply, to write. Some times I write about what I’m feeling, sometimes I write text for my book, sometimes I draft blog entries, and sometimes I simply ramble or repeat myself to make it to the quota. But I write every day, and that’s something I had never done before. Thank you Buster for making this such a nice site and such a pleasure to come back every day.

This site has become a great outlet for me to get my feelings out because I have a tendency to repress them. It’s also helped me get a better idea of how I’m feeling from day to day and what I need to focus on. I’ve also received several epiphanies as I’ve been writing. I wanted to drink a toast to Buster. I had lost two days of stats due to an autosave weirdness after the server move. Buster fixed the problem within 48 hrs. His friendliness on the trouble ticket and the speed and accuracy of his fix are worthy of notice and compliment. Thank you, sir. I look forward to earning many more badges in the year to come.

I love this site. Since I really started using it, for the February Challenge and now for March, I can guarantee that no matter how my day goes I will have written at least 750 words, generally more than that. This site gets me through my writing day.

Much like many other inspired writers here, I have had to break long streaks because I have not had internet access, and yet I still wrote my words every day!

I would happily buy a standalone app, or a plugin for an existing app like OmmWriter (which would be ideal for me) that I could do my daily words in, that would simply sync with 750words.com whenever there was an internet connection (like Evernote).

Love Love Love the site. It has helped me open up myself in ways I never thought possible. Thank you, Buster!

This site really is magic. I don’t know what it is about this site that has been so helpful, after all, it seems so simple to write daily just like in a journal. For whatever reason, even though I’ve kept a journal for years, this site has helped me work through issues more then any other method I’ve ever tried, including therapy! Every time I have something nagging me, something that I just can’t seem to let go, I write it out here and like magic I get to the root issues and feel worlds better. Buster, you have created something so wonderful that have helped so many that you have created fabulous karma for your next thousand lives! Once again, a most heartfelt thank you.

I am a sticker slut, sadly. I will do anything (almost) for a sticker. I already knew this about myself before I found 750 words because I used stickers on a calendar to motivate myself to exercise, and it worked. 750 words fed right into this propensity of mine, and I am now this close to a Phoenix Badge. But here’s the thing. Yesterday, as a result of some glitchy thing associated with the server move, my words stopped saving at 748, and my 96 day streak was broken. There was some gnashing of teeth for awhile, but then I realized: I’m not writing for stickers anymore. I am writing towards self-knowledge. I am finally becoming unattached to outcomes, and stickers, and badges. I am not working for “the nod.” So onward I go! I am simply renaming the site: 748 Words. Badges?! Who knew? I’m a 52 year old kindergartener obsessed with badges. I want them all. I wish you could port this concept to everything else I need to do in my life, like meditating and exercising. This is great! Thank you so much!

A hundred days? Really? It’s amazing how much the motivation of a simple badge kept me going, kept me plugging away at something every day, even if it wasn’t brilliant and wasn’t even good and I felt like the worst hack that ever poked at a typewriter. If a writer is someone who writes every day, then that phoenix badge says gosh darn it, I’m a writer.

I was thinking about how much better my writing is since joining this site and then I thought: huh, I wonder how much more I write in active voice now? It’d be great to have a stats feature assessing that, maybe one that could be charted over time. The site is still amazing how it is though!

Yesterday I turned in a fellowship application. They asked for a 1200 word research proposal, but I managed to write one in under 1000 words. I wrote the bulk of it last Sunday night in one sitting for my 750 words; it took me 24 minutes! A few months ago I would have hemmed and hawed, picked over my writing, and over-written it to death. As it was, it was sprightly, fast-paced, and effective and I only had to add an extra paragraph. My application sponsors thought it was the perfect proposal! I owe it to this site. I feel so much more at ease writing and it feels easy to write transparent, clear academic prose now. Thank you! You continue to save me hours of work.

The 750words One Month Challenge not only helped me realize that I can write every day, but in doing so, it gave me the extra push to finish the first draft of the book I’m writing. Now that I have seen what I can do with 15-30 minutes a day, I feel motivated to continue writing every day, challenge or no challenge.
