The Friends & Members of 750 Words

750 Words exists because of mutual good will between the people that run this site (Buster & Kellianne) and the people who use it (you). The site wouldn't exist without the generosity, patience, and humor of everyone involved. For the first 3+ years that the site was running (Dec 2009 to May 2013), the site was free to use but with some encouragement to donate. That served us well (and most importantly, generated enough income to keep the site up), but as the site grew the need for support also grew.

On June 12th 2013, all existing users of the site were given lifetime free accounts (we hope you'll continue to donate when you can). New accounts created after June 12th, 2013 are now required to become members within 30 days after signing up in order to keep writing. Everyone will always have access to previous writings, stats, etc, even if they choose not to become members.

We're listening to your feedback and want to make sure that first and foremost, we offer a friendly and safe place for people to dump their private thoughts. I expect that we'll continue to adjust the way this all works for the near term. Thanks for being an awesome community!

Who runs this site?

Our names are Buster and Kellianne, we live in Berkeley, California with our two sons (Niko and Louie) and this is something we've built and run in our spare time.

Today I hit the 40th day of my streak and also crossed the 50,000 word mark on my word count. I haven’t written every day since before having kids and being the mom of special needs kids means that I get very little time to myself. This has become my little bit of me time every day. It has helped my sanity, my marriage and my whole family. Thank you 750words.com!

Today is my day 99. I kind of forgot about the badges, as the journey from Albatross to Phoenix is quite a long one, but now I admit I am getting a little excited. I have been loving 750words all along, even when in the last few weeks, I’ve had so much pressure from all around that even writing things out got harder. But finally, getting rid of mental clutter in this way always seems to help and it’s been a good thing to see it through. No matter how silly this might be, I am so much looking forward to getting my Phoenix badge tomorrow. Yay! :)

After a series of stop-starts last year, I’ve only started writing consistently in 750words a few months ago. But already this site has helped hone my discipline, especially when it comes to writing every day. The higher my streak count, the more committed I am to not breaking it!

Today I just passed the 50,000 words mark: that’s a whole novel! Granted a raw, unedited and rambling one but who would have thought such a volume of wordage could be possible writing for less than an hour a day? Today I also realised that writing these pages has now become a serious habit, like my morning coffee. What a fine way to start the day!

I’ve only been writing for a week, but it’s been a good thing already. I have always been a writer of journals, only when I learned to type did I give up on handwriting journals. While I’m not writing journal entries about my day, I am finding this great to ensure that I write daily. Writing requires practice, so with that in mind, I salute and support 826 Seattle. Young people need to know how to write, and write well. Thanks, 750words.com.

I have always felt that I could not write; however, I was not going to give up. My professor said that I needed to give 750 words an attempt. I was skeptical, and asked myself how this could work? Well, it not only works, it has changed the way I write.

Writing every morning allows me to “vomit” out the random thoughts, the ones that linger in my mind. Thus, when I am writing for class my thoughts are much clearer. This site has changed my life, and I am excited to finish my first monthly challenge!

THANK YOU 750 WORDS, and professor Maynes!

I have been a member of this site for a few months and have used it off an on. Lately however, I have been able to write daily since I have some extra time on my hand. Moreover, I find myself making time to write everyday instead of just maybe writing when I have free time.

The daily writing is liberating! I usually find it hard to clearly express my thoughts verbally, but after writing my words everyday, it’s become a lot easier! I’ve gotten my creative juices flowing and I feel more motivated to do things because I can physically see them in front of me when I get them on the screen! I’m also typing faster which is never a bad thing and it’s helped me write more clearly with my school work.

The badges are very motivating! Hopefully after a few weeks, I’ll take on the monthly challenge. Thanks for this!

I’ve always wanted to be a writer but often struggled with writer’s block or lack of inspiration. Discovering 750 words has forced me to write every day, even when I think I don’t have anything to write about. It’s challenging some days, but I love reading my stats and am motivated by the badges. Writing every day has gotten my creativity flowing. Now sometimes I find myself having too much to write, with too many ideas, instead of the lack of. I love it!

So far I have only been here few days, but it has totally opened things up for me. I had not wrote much since NaNoWriMo in November and I’m glad to be back on the horse writing every day again! Thank You!

I am so happy, today i turn into an albatross! Writing my words in the morning helps me realize what is important in my life, it helps me live my life to the fullest. I am now addicted to writing my words and do not feel good when I can’t write. Thank you for this site.

Writing words for fun everyday and for improving myself has made me feel I can overcome any obstacle and meet all challenges. It has been a good experience to be with myself just writing when everyone else is sleeping.. and then I go back to bed…and enjoy my thoughts

Inspiration and joy out of this process always motivate for something even more. And I can say that badges is one of the greatest motivational tools. Especially that are well deserved. Yes! More badges for accomplishments, even more difficult to earn and delightful to receive.

Keep doing what you do really believe in. Even despite the fact that others will let you down and even you will doubt, that’s OK. Just wanted to say, never give up! And this site helped me to stay inspired. And the fact that one can get bonuses and different kinds of badges, along with Cups of Patronage makes it all even more valuable and pleasant to follow.

Thanks so much for 750 words, Buster. Ever since I discovered this site, a little over a month and a half ago thanks to WORLD magazine, my writing habits have improved immensely. The badges make great motivators, but the true joy comes from knowing that I’m finally writing consistently instead of procrastinating. It has helped me to clear my mind when frustrated, to pour out my ideas when I’m feeling creative, to focus the thoughts for my latest research paper.

Thank you. :)

Having a specific badge as a goal is very motivating for me. Would like to see some badges between the Albatross and the Phoenix, or even more details on the behavior badges like how many days and from what times of day it takes to get the Bat or Rooster. Thank you!

I stopped regularly a year ago, and the ideas in my head just kept building up. No longer can I now make excuses to put off getting these ideas down in words. I’ve tried writing in various places before – as notes on Facebook, as blog posts, as scribbles on sheets of lined paper tucked in long-forgotten places in my house – but there was barely a nag of motivation to drive my writing, and I had months-long lulls of no output. Here, I can force myself to write, no matter what the subject may be, and it seems to be helping me get over grumpy morning moods.

Granted, 750 words are a lot, and I had always feared that hitting the threshold for the day was going to be impossible. But sometimes, when you hit a barrier, and you just push a little bit past it, the road rolls smoothly…

I hold a cup up to you, 750words.com, and give a toast for your help. And there will be more cups to come. Cheers!

It’s funny; my girlfriend started writing here way before i did, and I did join, wrote for a couple of days and then stopped for quite some time. I am now doing this on a daily basis, and while at first it was kind of sloppy, now it is getting better

Badges are fabulous motivation, and it’s funny what they can do for you to keep on going when sometimes you don’t want to. It has also helped me to fix some problems with myself or sometimes others, and definitely making me feel better. So I really appreciate what you have done, Buster, like many have said before. Simple things can do big wonders for most of us.
