The counter, the monthly challenges and the badges are the tools you use to motivate your users to behave and do their writing every day and, speaking from experience, ALL of them work very well, and I’m thankful they are features of the site. I just wish that there could be a few more badges that make you explore some kind of particular behavior (like the morning/evening ones), topic or way of writing. I am sure new creative ideas can be explored, and I am sure they will always be welcome – everyone loves them and they serve as a huge motivation, and the more there are, the happier everyone will be. ^_
