The Good Patrons of 750 Words

A Note of Inspiration from Mari Sekizawa

1 cup
Asian language character count

I’ve tried the morning pages a few times in the past, but like everyone else, I couldn’t keep it up. For my Xth attempt, I knew I needed some kind of setup, some platform that would help me keep myself motivated and so found 750 words. I love how it works, the system itself, and its communal feel and everything is great! Except for one problem for me which is…
I write in Japanese. In Japanese, spacing is not used between words so I just go on inputting characters. The only time 750 words counts my text as one word is when I go on to a new paragraph!
When I signed up, I remember there was an option to choose if I was writing in English or in another language. The word count system probably works with other alphabet-based languages, but not with many Asian languages, unfortunately.
So that means I cannot get an X for completing my three pages, and cannot fully utilize the features, including the monthly challenges, which really cuts the motivational aspect by half. I considered using some other character count tool and then pasting 750 words of lorem ipsum text, but not having to do that manually should be the beauty of this kind of platform…
I have looked into what Japanese speakers are saying online about what would be the equivalent of three pages of English in Japanese characters (I also wonder how people came up with 750 words and how it was justified); some say 1200 characters, some say 1000. I wish there was an option to choose the type of word/character count, and an option to choose how many characters as well.
So on my screen now, it says my free trial is ending in a little less than three weeks. I do not expect the feature will be added by then, but here is my cup of coffee hoping that maybe it will be taken into consideration for the next feature addition. I would love to continue writing on this platform, thank you for your attention!
