The Friends & Patrons of 750 Words
750 Words exists because of mutual good will between the people that run this site (Buster & Kellianne) and the people who use it (you). The site wouldn't exist without the generosity, patience, and humor of everyone involved. For the first 3+ years that the site was running (Dec 2009 to Apr 2013), the site was free to use but with some encouragement to donate. That served us well (and most importantly, generated enough income to keep the site up), but as the site grew the need for support also grew.
On May 1st, all existing users of the site will be given lifetime free accounts (we hope you'll continue to donate when you can). New accounts created after May 1st, 2013 will be required to become members within 30 days after signing up in order to keep writing. Everyone will always have access to previous writings, stats, etc, even if they choose not to become members.
We're both very much interested in keeping the spirit of this site intact. We are open to giving away a certain number of free accounts away every month... especially if you're willing to tell us a bit about yourself and your story. If you can't afford to pay $5/month for whatever reason, please feel free to make your case to Kellianne.
We're listening to your feedback and want to make sure that first and foremost, we offer a friendly and safe place for people to dump their private thoughts. I expect that we'll continue to adjust the way this all works for the near term. Thanks for being an awesome community!

Notes of inspiration from the patronsI think it would be really fun if we could chart say, the most commonly used words on a greater than day-to-day timecourse, as well as the changes in mood. You show a little pie chart about whether or not we’re in a positive mood or a negative mood (it’s usually pretty accurate), and so it would be fun if we could see if that’s correlated with, certain words we use (am I less happy the more times I mention boss’s name?) or how often we write.

I would love this!

750 words is like when you wake up with a bad hangover and you feel the immediate need to vomit. You are frantically looking around for the nearest restroom and FINALLY when you find it, you let loose. AND you feel like a champ, all of a sudden. Well, it’s not quite the same but when you have a lot on your mind, which is always the case for me, it’s a great way to just spew it out. (MMmmmmm…..yummy…..)

I like the personalized identity of the site, where it is all about the individual and his/her writings. When there are days that I am “off” and either unable to write or just tired of writing, it’d be rather neat if 750words caught on to my absence and sent a little email saying something encouraging like “Oh, how I’ve missed you. When will we spend time together soon?”. Just something short and sweet like that would be endearing.

750words has been a wonderful tool in my life to help me process my thoughts and get my head clear to tackle the day. I have been amazed time and again at how therapeutic writing every day has been. In addition, the streak keeps me motivated to write and helps me to overcome many, many obstacles to writing that day’s entry, especially on certain days. Despite my grumbling that I have to write on those days, the feeling of accomplishment on the back end is hard to duplicate. I have found increased confidence in my ability to “finish what I start,” although I can’t say that that has been my strong point in the past. I am SO happy to be grandfathered into 750words membership. I am one that cannot afford a monthly fee, but I am happy to make donations now and again as I am able to. Thank you, Buster and Kellianne!

750 words just works! For now it is a daily thinking space, later on maybe I will use it for more focused projects. I love the clean, minimalistic page. It is refreshing and calming. Thank you.

Hello 750words has been my special go-to place whenever I need to think out loud about work and life. I used this site a lot to especially when I was writing my master’s thesis. Using other writing tools was not the same.
Testimonial Note from Ed Guzman on Fri, Apr 05
I have currently severely disabled and mostly housebound. Writing 750 words each day reminds me that I am still able to do something and gives me the motivation to continue striving for my dreams.
Testimonial Note from Tamara Epps on Fri, Apr 05
Thank you for this site, and thank you for listening to your users! I would have paid to keep the access that 750 words provides, but it is good to know that in case I cant afford it in the future I will still have a place to write.
Testimonial Note from Peti on Fri, Apr 05
As lame as it may sound, it’s working toward the badges that keeps me on my streak sometimes I think. I get excited before a badge, and I am currently almost at my first flock. Badges are FUUUUN!

750Words is amazing. It has turned me into a daily writer, and I am trilled to be on a 105 day streak and approaching 100K words. If you need motivation and discipline to write daily, this is the site to do it on!
Testimonial Note from Cheney Giordano on Fri, Apr 05
Pavlov had it right: after you’ve been on 750words.com for a while, just seeing the blank screen is incentive to start writing. Nothing else—Word, Scrivener—has exactly the same effect. Thanks for creating this site and keeping it going!
Testimonial Note from M. Bluth on Thu, Apr 04
I wanted to say thanks for creating this site. Though it has been more difficult this past year to write everyday, the writing is a bit of mental therapy for me, and has helped me with creating goals, and developing self-discipline. I do hope this site continues to function and strive… I have quite a lot of information on this site, and I don’t know what I would do if you disappeared. Love, and lots and lots of thanks (along with this Cuppa Patronage :) ) James

Thanks Buster and Kellianne! I love this site! I am slowly approaching a 1000 day streak (only a couple of months to go) and I just want to say thanks.
Testimonial Note from Jayne on Thu, Apr 04
I was worried about the previous plans to make everyone pay and am so happy for the new direction. I plan to donate what I can, because this site is worth it to me. Just keep letting the community know what’s going on, keep the dialogue open, and we will stay loyal and help out. Thank you!
Testimonial Note from Matthew Karns on Thu, Apr 04
I’m so excited that I get to keep using 750 Words in the future! My friends and I are planning to keep up our competition with each other to see who completes the One Month Challenges. Losers have to buy the winners new nail polish. All three of us will continue to use the site for a long time into the future!
Testimonial Note from Claire Richie on Thu, Apr 04
Just to confirm that I have set up the necessary monthly transfer of funds via PayPal ($5.00) to become a Member under the revised system that will be in place, from first May. I am looking forward to continued use of the site to liberate whatever creative potential I have left! Thank you both for your generous offer. I assume we will still be able to access this site as before, in my case via Google.
Testimonial Note from Warwick Paul Onyeama on Wed, Apr 03
Good luck and good writing.

Okay, day 2 of April… Who will write everyday?
One Month Challenge Bounty from Liz Flynn on Wed, Apr 03
Dear Buster and Kellianne, Your generosity is incredibly amazing; thank you so much for the gift of lifetime membership. I’m sorry to say that I tried in the past month to wean myself off 750 words, and I’ve come to realize how reassuring it is to escape into this simple yet encouraging interface and beat out everything that’s been preoccupying me for the day. Even if I’m not a serious enough writer to ever get a badge for anything more than a 5 day streak, I think just having so much encouragement to log in and type out my thoughts when I can has been phenomenally cathartic. So thanks so much for not only creating this site, but also for doing everything you can to make this work out and encourage all of us to stay with you. You are amazing. And that little badge I just received that says I’m a patron… it’s amazing how heartwarming it is to see it. I’m glad that I’ve finally decided to contribute to a really incredible service. Best wishes to you and your family, and thank you so much for everything that you’ve done!
Testimonial Note from Cynthia T. Hsu on Wed, Apr 03
Thank you so much for this site. From the daily email reminder to the word count on the page to all the fun analytics on my writing and every other little detail on the site, you help make writing morning pages fun and easy. Thanks!
Testimonial Note from Beth Karlin on Wed, Apr 03
This site is the reason I got back into writing. Keep on writing (and hopefully, enjoying every second of it) :-)
Testimonial Note from DragoonHP on Tue, Apr 02
thank you so incredibly much. keeping this site free for existing users is what pushed me to write again after a way too long break. so much appreciation and <3 for your work!
Testimonial Note from Nicole von Horst on Tue, Apr 02
I just wanted to say you have a beautiful family, and thank you for creating this site. It has saved my sanity and my creativity. THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO.
Testimonial Note from R R D on Tue, Apr 02
I don’t really get it, have only been part of the site for under a week, but it sounds good and want to contribute.
One Month Challenge Bounty from Tathra Street on Tue, Apr 02
I’d love to write on my iPad but not so much on my phone, too small. Also keen to have better timezone accuracy, i get messages saying the day is over when it isn’t. Other than that. LOVE THIS SHIT!
