The Friends & Patrons of 750 Words
750 Words exists because of mutual good will between the people that run this site (Buster & Kellianne) and the people who use it (you). The site wouldn't exist without the generosity, patience, and humor of everyone involved. For the first 3+ years that the site was running (Dec 2009 to Apr 2013), the site was free to use but with some encouragement to donate. That served us well (and most importantly, generated enough income to keep the site up), but as the site grew the need for support also grew.
On May 1st, all existing users of the site will be given lifetime free accounts (we hope you'll continue to donate when you can). New accounts created after May 1st, 2013 will be required to become members within 30 days after signing up in order to keep writing. Everyone will always have access to previous writings, stats, etc, even if they choose not to become members.
We're both very much interested in keeping the spirit of this site intact. We are open to giving away a certain number of free accounts away every month... especially if you're willing to tell us a bit about yourself and your story. If you can't afford to pay $5/month for whatever reason, please feel free to make your case to Kellianne.
We're listening to your feedback and want to make sure that first and foremost, we offer a friendly and safe place for people to dump their private thoughts. I expect that we'll continue to adjust the way this all works for the near term. Thanks for being an awesome community!
Notes of inspiration from the patrons
180 day streak on May 1st. 180 days of mind clearing writing. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: This is the best and most consistent habit I have ever cultivated in my life, outside of brushing my teeth. Proud to be a patron.

1 cupMore badges for accomplishments
I like to see another flock badge put into place. Maybe 500,000 words written?

This website has been instrumental in helping me cope with my anxiety on a daily basis and get me tapping into my creativity again by clearing away all of the mental debris. I was originally set the morning pages as homework by my hypnotherapist when she had me tackle ‘The Artists’ Way’ and I couldn’t get into the format or the rigidity of doing them before anything else, yet this website leaves me wanting to do my 750 words and genuinely happy when I have. I suggest this to anyone and everyone, as it is an easy to use format, an effective method of stress-relief, a great way to accomplish meaningful self-talk and probably much easier in this day and age that sitting down with pen and paper in hand. I am so grateful to the creators of this site for taking the time to make it happen.
Testimonial Note from Meaghan van Loenen on Wed, May 01
I didn’t complete the April challenge, so I’m paying up. Congratulations to everyone who made it! I’ll try again in May. Hopefully I’ll get on the Wall of Amazingness, since there won’t be any Spring Break or multiple state road trip to hinder me.

I love this site already, beautifully executed, keep up the good work~
New Feature Vote from Jordan Vernia on Tue, Apr 30
Just completed my first monthly challenge, and on a 40-day streak.
40 days ago I did no writing and it was like that for about 7 years.
This is transformational.
Thank you !

When I learned that 750words.com required stronger financial backing, I was more than happy to pay my $5.00 a month! In fact, I was somewhat excited to think the site was growing so great, and that I could contribute to its success.
Thank-you Buster, Kellianne and all those who contribute to the running of this site. I am mega-grateful to you all.

12 cupsVariable Word Count and NaNoWriMo Partnership
I love the site as is. As others have mentioned, though, 750 words for a lot of writers is too short of a goal for practical purposes. As has been mentioned previously, a variable goal count would be nice. If a user could make it longer at will, that would spur more writing, because while a person could choose to write more than 750 words, he or she won’t be pushed to do so.
I’m also thinking about if it would be possible for this site to officially partner up with NaNoWriMo. Right now the two sites are separate and while a writer could use the writings from 750words.com in their NaNoWriMo work, most people would focus on one instead of the other. A partnership might encourage more of a crossover in many aspects, and by partnership, I don’t necessarily mean them buying you out (although if they did I wouldn’t complain) but more of an official affiliation.

=In Buster and Kellianne we trust.=
Your commitment to our privacy is outstanding. This site has provided me motivation and convenience, joy and great stress relief. Through major decisions, frustrations, and just generally passing time — it’s by far one of the most productive ways to interact with the internet. Thank you!
And to all the Patrons. Along with Buster and Kellianne, we’ve built this site with our trust. Congratulations! It seems change is coming, but if it leads to long term reliability, privacy, and stability — change is welcome.

1 cupyearly membership
For my own financial logisitical preferences, I’d rather pay a single annual fee instead of having a monthly charge. Could a membership payment of $60/yr be an option in addition to the monthly subscription?

A standalone version without the 750 quota. As an English teacher, I would LOVE to use the data visualization as incentive to motivate my students. Maybe if I could CONTROL the word count quota….Hmm…

I just want to thank Buster and Kellianne. I’ve been using this site since nearly the beginning and have been as streaky as I could be, but I’d like to think for good reason. It’s seen me through an arduous career transition, and as I send this note, am happy to say it’s helped me during the earning of a Masters of Education. Though I’ve been negligent and spotty, I have been writing elsewhere. When I haven’t had a paper or my thesis to work on, I managed to find time to keep my fingers busy and mind clear by coming here. What the combination has done for my capacity to write, to enter flow, and to produce clear thinking is immeasurable. I sing its praises. I convert often. I will ALWAYS believe in 750words.com, the Cameron underpinnings, and the artful, thoughtful design work of Buster and Kellianne.
Faithfully and Gratefully…
PS…I’m in SF Thurs-Monday (5/2-5/6) for a really neat educator’s conference (and I’ll be shilling for 750words.com to my English teaching compadres). Meeting you would be a treat, BB! Let me know if possible for tea, coffee, what have you!
Testimonial Note from Eric Nentrup on Mon, Apr 29
I just got my Phoenix badge and I feel terrific! I am so grateful for this site. As someone else noted, I feel that I am even speaking more coherently because of my consistent writing practice. I’m grateful especially to the longtime 750Worders who share their stats. They provide welcome inspiration for me to keep my streak going. And thanks to all who are doing their writing here—for however long and with whatever frequency. It feels good to be with you. I wish you each a happy, expressive day!
Testimonial Note from Bhavani on Mon, Apr 29
I add to the bounty in honor of my friend Patrick who has a streak of over 600 days writing 750 words. He has inspired me to try for a one month streak in May.
One Month Challenge Bounty from Ashley Frazier on Mon, Apr 29
Writing on this site has kept me writing. A clear mind is a happy mind! Thank you 750 Words!
Testimonial Note from Fanny Stevenson on Sun, Apr 28
I’ve been a member here for a little over two years, and I’ve only missed 2 or 3 days since I joined. In that time, I’ve written almost three quarters of a million words. On a very rough day on April 1, 2011, I found 750words.com. It’s has been a place of safety, somewhere I can clarify my thoughts, ever since then. 750words.com has followed me through some of the best and hardest times in my life and helped me reason through more decisions, big and small, than I can count. Thank you, 750words.com. You’re the best.

1 cupAn iPhone/iPad app
I’m starting to use my iPod touch more than I use my computer. I would love to have an app mostly to keep my writing private. Most other notetaking/journal apps don’t have passwords. It would also be easier if I kept everything in one place.
New Feature Vote from Chloe VanDuinen on Sun, Apr 28
This website is so fantastic. I love it because it’s private and I can easily print my words when I choose too. I don’t come here as often as I should but when I do it’s so easy for me to record major events in my life or even just the mundane stuff.
Testimonial Note from Chloe VanDuinen on Sun, Apr 28
This month, I’ve spent in a really weird place and while I’ve kept up, I want to offer tribute to the people who go through the 1 Month Challenge honestly. Y’all doing great work.

The habit of daily writing has changed my life for the better. I am more articulate in my verbal interactions because I’m exercising my writing skills. I’m defining and refining what’s important to me and have felt a greater sense of self-discovery through this effort than any previous effort.
Testimonial Note from Eric Sheetz on Sat, Apr 27
Just getting back into the swing of things after a new baby. So glad to have 750words!
One Month Challenge Bounty from Suzanne Wayne on Sat, Apr 27
750words has been amazing for me. I’ve written so many words and become more dedicated to the craft I love. My streak was ruined this month by a pesky gallbladder that had to come out suddenly but here’s some cups to spread the love to all the winners in May!
One Month Challenge Bounty from Jen Connelly on Fri, Apr 26
I feel so good after doing my writing. It’s like just letting everything out all at once. I feel so centered when I’m done.
Testimonial Note from Kate Cavalcante on Fri, Apr 26
I am a serial procrastinator…something is always getting in the way of everything. This site is changing that. Writing my 750 words every morning gives me something to be proud of at the start of a day. That feeling is addictive, when it begins to wane I simply fulfil another task and its back! Achieving something first thing in the morning makes my days more prosperous and all it took was 750 words!
