The Friends & Members of 750 Words
750 Words exists because of mutual good will between the people that run this site (Buster & Kellianne) and the people who use it (you). The site wouldn't exist without the generosity, patience, and humor of everyone involved. For the first 3+ years that the site was running (Dec 2009 to May 2013), the site was free to use but with some encouragement to donate. That served us well (and most importantly, generated enough income to keep the site up), but as the site grew the need for support also grew.
On June 12th 2013, all existing users of the site were given lifetime free accounts (we hope you'll continue to donate when you can). New accounts created after June 12th, 2013 are now required to become members within 30 days after signing up in order to keep writing. Everyone will always have access to previous writings, stats, etc, even if they choose not to become members.
We're listening to your feedback and want to make sure that first and foremost, we offer a friendly and safe place for people to dump their private thoughts. I expect that we'll continue to adjust the way this all works for the near term. Thanks for being an awesome community!
Who runs this site? Our names are Buster and Kellianne, we live in Berkeley, California with our two sons (Niko and Louie) and this is something we've built and run in our spare time. Sign up or log in to buy Cups of Patronage Our Good MembersJOEL MCMILLAN

Dark Mode
Different modes to write in would be really helpful, I personally prefer dark mode but also a grey mode or something similar would be a really nice addition!

Just a quick note of appreciation to both of you for your care and concern…and heaps of work and probably gallons of coffee getting the site back up. My “day job” is that of a Sr. Technical Recruiter, so I hear from my Hiring Managers the hell that happens when S**T goes sideways. And they have a corps of technologists to deal with these issues. Know that I am holding you both in warm and loving thoughts… Bill Wright

This site gives me a safe place to talk myself out of circles of anxiety. I really noticed the difference after the outage yesterday, when I wasn’t able to write my words. Today I wrote to talk myself out of anxiety over the broken streak, and other things. My brain is healthier for this, and I know that I would have less impulsion to keep up with my writing practice were it not for this site. Thank you, Buster, and thank you, Kellianne, and here’s to many more thousands of words that nobody will read.

750 Words is an important part of my day. I’m so glad this site exists!

Pursuing my goal of 50-thousand words broke my brain one night. It lead to the discovery of 25 years of having a form of ADD called Executive Function Disorder.Somewhere around 15 days into the streak, I had to catch up. Writing 6500 words one day led to me diving deeper into some personal problems. Dedicating myself to my writing routine has been the best form of therapy I can point to in being more grounded and knowing myself well.

750words has been my therapist for the past 18 months. I’ve had hundreds of chance to analyse my thoughts, share them with myself, and share them for the future me, one day when I ask myself why I did what I did during this time. Somewhere during the process, after 63 years, I realise that much of my fears and anxieties stem from feeling abandoned when my father died 56 years ago. My neighbour put this in perspective when we spoke about her husband dying and my divorce. She said “divorce is much harder than a partner dying. Your partner doesn’t die to leave you”. You guys rock.

Stats feedback
Hi! I wonder if it makes sense, but one thing bothers me a little about the stats presented at the end of the writing. Sometimes the breakdown is spot on in terms of the things I was thinking about, but sometimes it’s completely off. For example, today it said that I was mostly focused on religion. I do write about religions sometimes, but I don’t belong to any. Today I wrote a pretty introspective post, but I didn’t mention a single thing about religion. It was hardly even spiritual. Just practical stuff about how I can improve my daily habits. So I was wondering, could you add an option to rate the accuracy of the stats at the end? Most of the times they are spot on or at least pretty close to what I would think, but sometimes they are completely off. I don’t know the exact mechanics of how the analysis works, and so I don’t know if it will be useful for improving the algorithm, but I just thought I’d mention that. Thank you!

A better mobile site
While I’m grateful for what is, I can imagine and see the value of each suggestion. Given the value, I would suggest upgrading to appeal to a wider audience as a way to offer help people express themselves with words and co-create positive change in the world. .

750 words… Some days it goes by fast, and I’m ready to keep writing more. Some other days, it feels like each sentence has to be dragged out of my brain, and my eyes are constantly checking the word count. Finally, some days, I am too tired and I go straight to the “Schedule time off” page to save my streak, even though it is not very long yet.

Today marks the completion of 1000 consecutive days of writing. I am grateful for the daily habit that 750words has given me to be able to BRAIN DUMP whatever is on my mind and get my thoughts and plans of action down for me to get organised. The daily habit has transformed my life in so many ways – work, home, exercise, eating – all of which benefit from this daily habit – Thank You So Much
