The Friends & Members of 750 Words

750 Words exists because of mutual good will between the people that run this site (Buster & Kellianne) and the people who use it (you). The site wouldn't exist without the generosity, patience, and humor of everyone involved. For the first 3+ years that the site was running (Dec 2009 to May 2013), the site was free to use but with some encouragement to donate. That served us well (and most importantly, generated enough income to keep the site up), but as the site grew the need for support also grew.

On June 12th 2013, all existing users of the site were given lifetime free accounts (we hope you'll continue to donate when you can). New accounts created after June 12th, 2013 are now required to become members within 30 days after signing up in order to keep writing. Everyone will always have access to previous writings, stats, etc, even if they choose not to become members.

We're listening to your feedback and want to make sure that first and foremost, we offer a friendly and safe place for people to dump their private thoughts. I expect that we'll continue to adjust the way this all works for the near term. Thanks for being an awesome community!

Who runs this site?

Our names are Buster and Kellianne, we live in Berkeley, California with our two sons (Niko and Louie) and this is something we've built and run in our spare time.

I love writing with my keyboard on the iPad, but alas, the textboxes in safari are not really great text editors. I mean, you can’t even option-backspace words!
I would love to have an app or an API so that I could build my own …

Live in Living Color!

It would be great if you could “store” different color templates for use at different times. Like, if I’m in a creative move, if I could (with a click) make the colors and fonts more in the mood I’m feeling, and then (on another day) flip it to a more formal (perhaps I’m writing nonfiction or in an office setting).

Thanks!

Reminders

A feature that would allow you to write a reminder for yourself that will appear in your writing space the next day.
You could use this to remind yourself to continue a topic you’d started the day before, or just anything you’d like to remember. This way it will appear in a place you’re guaranteed to see if you write everyday.

This website has really helped me to accomplish the challenge of being able to write everyday. And the surprise Badges are a real treat that I have received with each small challenge and they did a great job in giving encouragement. After spending the half an hour on this page in the morning is really a great way to start the day with a fresh mind because you have already put all the worrying thoughts out of your mind and on these pages and there is nothing to worry you. So you are free to have a Great Day. Good luck for you too to have a great satisfaction with the 750 Words.

Last month I completed my first monthly challenge of the countless months I have signed up. 750words.com gives me a place to brush off the cobwebs before getting down to the grit of the dissertation text. I’ve used it for some of my own peace while my twin toddlers nap. Sanctuary sanctuary! Thanks.

750 words has turned my entire life around in one month and is the most important thing I have ever done in my life to bring me peace, joy and harmony. In a fast world of false promises I found the one true panacea for me – 750 words. Buster and Kellianne you are the most creative and generous of miracle workers. EVERY area of my life improved in the first month I participated and I look forward to the rest of my days with gusto and the JOY of finally being able to call myself an artist and a writer and to look in the mirror and know with every fiber of my being that is the most real and true thing about me. To everyone else who is out there writing, is this the best thing ever or what?

I won’t let a day pass without writing on 750Words. It’s addicting. It’s a personal tool to challenge a writer to get disciplined, and I love the initiative.

Reaching for my lap top to write every morning is like reaching for a trusted, secret, best friend. I suppose I am building a trusted, secret, best friend of myself and I love it and the freedom it brings then to just go into my day with a clear mind. Love, love, love it!! Thanks for the site.

Improve the writing page

Not much improvement needed I would like to be able to italicize or underline. More than once I’ve wished I had the ability to put a character’s thoughts into italics. Makes it easier to sort out when I transfer some stuff to my drafts. That is all.

$5 a month is nothing it’s basically eating a garbage meal at mcdonalds and for the benefits that you get using this site everyday it’s one hundred percent worth it and in the long run it will make you a better person and it’s helped me tremendously to figure out problems in my own life and solve it

I decided to get a $5.00 monthly yearly subscription. I loved seeing the results when I write, when I am finished. No other website is like 750Words, that I have found. Plus I like how they show you what days you wrote and didn’t write. I may not write daily, when I do I love coming to this website. Thank you.

Attach Picture

I’m not sure if this would greatly affect the operation of the website or anything, but I would like the ability to attach a picture or two, optionally, to each day. I often use the site as a diary and though I could include links to pictures hosted elsewhere, it would be kind of cool to be able to do that here.

Thanks!

I WANT A MILLION WORD BADGE. IT IS ABOUT TIME. This site is central to my life. It is the one p[lace i can always be myself, without consequence. It has helped me create poems that were subsequently published. 750 words is my home. It is where i can love, hate, and examine myself without shame.

This is where I can dump all the junk from my brain every day and pick through the pieces to find the nuggets of significance that explain the root of my problems and solve them. And my typing speed increased, which is really useful in this new age of keyboards. :D

On September 2, 2012, I began a journey of writing every day. I have been faithful to keep going since then. But I have not always been excited about the amount that I have written.
750 Words has provided a much-needed boost to my writing. Since beginning, this, I have not missed my target of 750 words; often I have gone well beyond 1000. It is remarkable the change that has taken place in my writing. For me, this is something that is well worth the cost; the results speak for themselves.

Yesterday, I rounded 100,000 words. I honestly can’t believe it. This is such a tangible aspect of my writing, just getting up every day and facing the blank page is in itself an accomplishment but to have it in 6-digit figures now blows my mind. Love this site!

I love this site! It has helped me find time to write, despite having a demanding day job. I haven’t felt this good about my creativity in years. The accomplishment of having at least 750 words a day has also helped my mental health, too. Can’t wait to keep going!

Have an option to purchase a lifetime Patron account

I love 750words.com and have never been so consistent in my journaling since my college days! I don’t know what it is about this site, but I just can’t stand the thought of breaking my streak, and it inspires me every single day!!

That said, I would love to see a way for those of us who unfortunately didn’t know about the site before the “cut off” date in 2013 to have an option to purchase a Patron account. Instead of paying $5 per month, we could just pay a Lifetime Membership fee. I’ve seen other services do something like this and it is so wonderful because then you are fully committed since you paid this big chunk upfront. It’s sad to not be able to be a Patron simply because you didn’t know about it until it was too late.

Along with that, I fully support the suggestions I’ve seen to give a discount for paying for an entire year up front. It’s true that $5/month is a lot to commit to when there are regular journaling apps out there with free accounts &/or pro account for $20/year. The only reason I keep 750words going is because I just can’t find anything else that motivates me like your simple interface and social factor does. I can’t wait to earn each new badge too!!

This has been a long drawn-out note, huh? But I’m not going to go back and edit it because isn’t that what the site’s all about? haha. Thanks again Buster & Kellianne! :)
