The Friends & Members of 750 Words

750 Words exists because of mutual good will between the people that run this site (Buster & Kellianne) and the people who use it (you). The site wouldn't exist without the generosity, patience, and humor of everyone involved. For the first 3+ years that the site was running (Dec 2009 to May 2013), the site was free to use but with some encouragement to donate. That served us well (and most importantly, generated enough income to keep the site up), but as the site grew the need for support also grew.

On June 12th 2013, all existing users of the site were given lifetime free accounts (we hope you'll continue to donate when you can). New accounts created after June 12th, 2013 are now required to become members within 30 days after signing up in order to keep writing. Everyone will always have access to previous writings, stats, etc, even if they choose not to become members.

We're listening to your feedback and want to make sure that first and foremost, we offer a friendly and safe place for people to dump their private thoughts. I expect that we'll continue to adjust the way this all works for the near term. Thanks for being an awesome community!

Just had my NaNoWriMo words validated on that site, which felt super. Could never have done it without all the writing I’ve done here. Thanks again Buster and Kellianne. Who else of our tribe won the NaNoWriMo challenge this year?

I love this site! I’ve been writing for three years nonstop. Well, except for the times when I got married or when I was truly ill. I have a routine. I write every morning. It’s a true brain dump. There’s no organization whatsoever. I just write whatever pops into my head. It’s really helped me to organize my thoughts and work through things. THANKS FOR THIS SITE!

I’ve been working on a one-person show and I thought for a long time that this writing was “separate” and other but I’ve recently discovered that a) it clears the way and b) I can actually get work done on the script. Thanks.

I love having a goal, and it is more of an incentive to write.

I have always loved writing, but always had a problem sticking to it. This site has helped me begin to look forward to writing. 750 words a day seemed like a writing goal I couldn’t try to reach for every day. But I have found that 750 words aren’t enough to write.

My note is not moving or eloquent in wording. But it’s real.

750 Words has been the place where, for over 1700 consecutive days and over 5 nonconsecutive years, I have spilled my thoughts. I’ve planned novels, college essays, and plays; I’ve worked through depression and disappointment and confusion; I’ve chronicled middle school through now my first semester at college, and in every little green rectangle lives at least 750 words of the story of my life, archived in the moment without self-censorship. That is a gift that I will never be able to repay the whole team here for, but please know how much it means to me – and as an American on Thanksgiving, it just seems fitting to expend four cups of patronage and a few moments to let you know how much this site has meant to me over the years, and the incredible positive impact it has had on my life!!

What a wonderful site this is. It melds in a great way with morning meditation and I get up from the computer feeling like my head is on a little straighter! Thank you for 750 Words.

I would like some or the other sort of feature that will assure members that all that they write about are safe and that it will not be used in any way without their permission. Help members put their confidence that it is a safe space.

One year ago was the eve of my 29th birthday. I was fresh out of a breakup, beyond burned out in my job, creatively inert, and more than a little spooked to have only one year left in my 20s. So I went way out of character and set some goals. One of them was to complete 365 days of journaling on this site. I’d been using it on and off since 2012 but hadn’t been back since inadvertently breaking a 260-some day streak the year before and being too devastated to start over again at 0.

But I set that goal, and I came back. And here we are on the eve of my 30th. Once I write today’s entry, I’ll have made it 365 days. I also have a new job, am in an incomparably beautiful and loving relationship, completed a 30-day 30-poem challenge in April and am about to complete another birthday-based 30-day 30-poem challenge, and oh yeah just ran a half marathon for the first time ever. It has been an unbelievable (truly, an impossible to believe) year. Good fortune accounts for a lot but so does having rearranged my way of living and having this space to reflect and vent and process. THANK YOU! I’m so happy.

I knew that I would eventually break my first streak, but I didn’t think it would be because I fell asleep at the keyboard without finishing my words. Back to an egg! But, after 67 days, the habit is ingrained. Writing daily has had a completely unexpected effect on my life, both privately and publicly.

I cannot believe that a few weeks ago I had no idea 750 Words even existed! Since my day one, I have been absolutely addicted! I can write about all the important things in my life that I like to keep to myself. If I am feeling unsure about myself, I am able to really see a great breakdown of how my emotions are playing out. It truly is so inspiring to keep me going and work on my writing and myself! Thank you 750 Words and Team

750 words has helped me clear my head. Writing helps me focus and get what is bothering me or what i am excited about out on “paper” and I’m able to make sense of my thoughts. It’s great!

…And also Android, preferably, since I don’t know for sure whether or not I’m going to have an iPhone forever. I’d love to be able to write on the go, since I can’t always be in a place with Internet access (save for phone 4G).

Daily writing with an accountability of 750 words and recognition of monthly goals to do it each day, keeps me accountable to myself and honest with myself. It’s also good therapy keeping me in touch with my feelings. A very good site that is a contribution to us all!

I’ve found 750words to be a place where I can brain-dump, which has seemed to get me moving in the right direction. It’s harder to do something like this in a Word doc, especially when you’re working on a particular project. Thank, Buster & Kellianne. I may not be ready for a subscription, yet, but I’m hoping I can build a habit which will get me there.

This habit is life changing. It makes me want to push myself to talk about topics and ideas for my business, some days it is a diary, and some days it is a place where i can rant. But I always feel better for seeing the little green note on the right hand side of the page when I reach my daily goal. I’m on my way to three straight months of being on the Wall of Awesomeness, a Phoenix badge and 100,000 words. I can do this!! You can too, just make it a habit every day.

Android App

I am usually on the move and would like to pen down my thoughts at bars, cafes, airport terminals and cabs. In such a scenario it would help to have an android app ready, and that would be really cool. Yeah, please bring out an android app, should not be difficult, and I will spread the word to people about this wonderful site.
