Set My Own Word Goal

This little website more than anything has helped motivate me to write more often and everyday! And I love it!!

I find myself wishing that I could set my own word goal rather than it always being 750 words. I know that’s the name and everything, and I’ve been able to achieve streaks with that goal. But when I get to the point in writing my stories where I’m editing and perfecting – 200 words takes a LOT more effort than in the initial brainstorming phase. And when I was trying for 750 words each day, I tended to only do initial drafts, and I found myself less motivated to work on the polishing phase of my writing because that made it harder to meet the daily goal. Which I realized was counter productive to meeting my writing goals, and I had to purposely make myself break my 750 word streak so as not to get caught up in that phase of my writing. (It was sooo sad!!)

And sometimes, 750 words just isn’t my personal goal. Sometimes, I’m thrilled when I get 300 words in a day for multiple days in a row. And so I wish I had a way of editing the definition of an x vs a / in my daily record. Like just a field somewhere where I could input my own goal. And then the x’s (and maybe score board) would reflect my own personal goals. And maybe one additional stat on the life long stats (you started daily pages 78% of the time since joining, you’ve completed daily pages 34% of the time (still based on 750 words), and you could add “You’ve met your personal goal 56% of the time”.

It could be separate from earning badges or meeting monthly challenges. Since those have a social aspect to them and we should all be held to the same standards for earning badges.

Anyway, it would be cool!!
