The Good Patrons of 750 Words

A Note of Inspiration from Kate

When I wrote my first 750 words entry I was interested in the challenge to write every single day. Four years later, I’m yet to form a consistent daily writing habit, but this hasn’t rendered my experience fruitless. I think a strength of 750 words lies in the fact it can be used for many purposes, suiting the preferences of those who use it, and with some structure in the form of goals and gentle encouragement. Working through assessment ideas, treating it as a diary or a personal soapbox are purposes to which I’ve put my entries (sometimes all three in the one).

750 words can be a place to maintain your week, month or year long streaks of daily writing. For me, it’s a place I might neglect but always seem to end up returning to. At times, away from a laptop, I’ve found myself excited to have the chance to log on later and bang out an entry. Knowing you can put something troubling aside and have a particular time and place in which to deal with it is comforting. Thank you for offering such a place!
