The Good Patrons of 750 Words
A Note of Inspiration from Allyson Myers
I’ve been using this site for nearly 5 years, and it has become an integral part of my life. I’ve written 1.3 million words of journaling, school work, creative writing, complaining, and thinking out loud about whatever happened to be in my head. Itâs gotten to the point where any time I have something I canât figure out, I come here and write it out. I canât tell you how many problems Iâve solved that way and how amazing it is to have a chronicle of my daily life that goes all the way back to 2011.
Sadly, my time on this site is drawing quickly to a close: I’m leaving on a mission for my church next week and wonât be able to write my words for over a year. With that in mind, it seemed like it was about time I wrote a note of thanks.
Thereâs something incredible about having a little sliver of time dedicated daily to writing, and it became really important to me. Some days I felt like I had nothing to say and struggled to hit the mark, and other days I pulled up the site specifically because I wanted to say things that I couldnât say to anyone else. My favorite thing about writing is that it can be whatever you need it to be, and this site captures that so well.
I remember a couple of years ago when shutting down the site seemed like a real possibility, and Iâm so glad that didnât happen. The way everyone rallied to find a solution to keep 750Words online just shows how much this means to everyone here, including me. This is one of the most positive and supportive communities Iâve ever been a part of, and itâs run by some of the nicest people Iâve ever found on the Internet.
Thanks for letting me be a part of this. 750Words has made a huge difference in my life, and Iâll be back as soon as I can.
Happy writing!
