I’m due to finally get my phoenix badge the day before I turn 27. I can’t think of a better birthday present. I have found free writing theraputic since I was old enough to write in a diary and find a safe hiding place; 750 words has gently encouraged me to turn this occasional crisis therapy into a daily rite of self care. Instead of thinking of myself as a damaged, limping creature, I have risen from the ashes as a writer with a vast hinterland of experience to draw from.
