You would make a list of hot topics… things of interest in the world of news… topics like global climate change, local heroes, my weather, careers, family, health, food, … general topics like that. We could then choose one of those 50 or so topics for our writing that day which we would tally by checking that box and you would at the end of the day note which of the multiple topics were that day’s Hot Topic!
