A Note of Inspiration from Tom Wilkinson

Improve the daily reminder email

Hi Buster,

It would be great if the daily reminder email could only be sent out if you haven’t written yet for that day at a set time, but then it doesn’t send you anything (as nice as the affirmation is) if you have written or there’s a checkbox to turn it off in that event.

I don’t use the daily reminder email currently because I find the extra clutter to my inbox annoying most days because I have successfully written already, but then that one day rolls around when I have to leave the house early and my routine is thrown off and I forget when I get home that night to write because it’s not part of my routine to make it up in the evenings because I’m usually so good about it and it’s only the next morning that I see my broken streak and my spirit feels that little bit crushed. I wish I had the option to only get the daily reminder email at a self-designated time on days I haven’t written yet by that time; I’m sure this involves pulling information from a database and extra queries—it’s never as simple as one would hope—but that would be a huge benefit to me and to many I would wager.

This is my first note to you Buster, so thanks for the great site! It’s been the catalyst for good habit forming this year in my creative life in truly, truly life changing ways. I am a better creative and, more than that, a better person for having spent the last year on your site. It will forever be a part of my narrative of how I became the diligent, disciplined craftsman I’m becoming. So forever and a thousand times over, thank you, thank you, thank you.

All the best,
T.G. Wilkinson
