The Good Patrons of 750 Words

What are points for? What difference does it make if I write offline and paste in my text “Bam!” like 750words tells me; I get fewer points, but what do points do for me?
Love the feedback we get here, though, hungry for it! Just not sure I need to be concerned about writing in “real” time or pasting what I’ve written while lying in bed, because the difference in points, well, makes no difference.
