The Good Patrons of 750 Words

A Note of Inspiration from Elizabeth Marie

1 cup

I started using 750 Words in July of 2010, wrote for 185 days, forgot one day in February 2011 and quit. I picked it back up this month because I’m now in grad school working toward an MFA in poetry, and 750 Words gives me the “permission” to write crap for the 12 minutes a day it takes me to pound out 750 words (I usually write more than 1,000). I’ve stopped worrying about speed, quantity, word choice. I just write. I’m not competing with anyone, not even myself. But I love this private place where I can think about why the word “noodle” wants to be in a poem about teen pregnancy. Thank you, thank you.
